Almost every man over 40 faces the same problem in bed: premature ejaculation (PE) or, as it is also called, rapid ejaculation. It is a condition when a man has an orgasm and ejaculates too fast after penetration, certainly before he wants it to happen. Men with this problem are unable to control the intercourse, and that causes them a lot of distress and anxiety that only worsens the situation. Those unlucky men are definitely not alone. Premature ejaculation statistics shows that almost one third of all men between 13 and 59, not only those who are older than 40, have that problem at least once in their life (according to the 2008 study by University of Chicago, 30% of men have had it in the last year). According to another study conducted in Australia, almost 24% of men had complaints about ejaculating too quickly. So the question remains: how to cure PE?
When Treatment Is Needed
It isn’t clear what to consider rapid ejaculation: usually men who ejaculate in less than a minute after penetration are considered those who need special treatment. Some other sexologists think that ejaculation which happens in the first two minutes must be called rapid. Others think that there’s nothing abnormal in fast ejaculation, and it must be treated only if it causes psychological distress for a man and his partner. However, according to British scientists that examined about 500 couples, an average intercourse time is usually five and a half minutes, and everything between four and eight minutes is considered normal.
There are many different factors that can cause premature ejaculation, from anxiety and depression to hormonal instability, increased sensitivity of penis or genetic predisposition. There is even Freudian theory that says PE has to do something with men unconsciously hating women and ejaculating too fast, thus, satisfying themselves and leaving their female partner in frustration on purpose. However, those are only theories that are not yet fully proven. The most explained hypothesis says premature ejaculation has something to do with nervous system and serotonin receptors.
There are several ways to treat premature ejaculation, mostly psychotherapeutic ones. They include relaxation techniques, healthy lifestyle (no alcohol or smoking), control techniques, communicating with the partner during sex etc. Unfortunately, those techniques take a lot of time and can’t help everybody.
Priligy – PE Solution worth Considering
So, how to stay in bed longer after 40? There’s a special medication best suited to treat premature ejaculation – the generic name of the drug is dapoxetine, and it is marketed under the name of Priligy. The remedy increases the level of serotonin, hormone of happiness, and it was first designed to treat depression. Later it was discovered that it helped to get rid of PE. One of the side effects of this drug is that it interferes with orgasm mechanisms that have to do a lot with serotonin and, thus, holds ejaculation.
Priligy starts working within five to seven days after beginning of treatment. Ejaculatory delay increases from 5 to 20 times. Men who have ejaculated within one or two minutes after the penetration start doing it within 6 to 20 minutes. The medication works with an absolute majority of patients, and placebo-controlled studies showed its effectiveness. Side effects might include the loss of orgasm and erectile dysfunction, so it is recommended to consult a medical specialist before taking dapoxetine. However, those side effects are very rare, and usually the drug is very well tolerated.
Indications and Doses
Priligy is prescribed to adult men from 18 to 64 years old. The medication is produced in 30 mg and 60 mg tablets that have to be taken one to three hours before sexual intercourse with water, with or without food. The recommended initial dosage is 30 mg, then, if needed and in case a patient doesn’t experience serious side effects such as dizziness, slow reactions or sleepiness, it can be increased to 60 mg. The pill is not intended for everyday use, and it must not be taken more often than once in 24 hours. Patients also have to avoid drinking alcohol as it worsens adverse effects.
For those who have had the so-called lifelong premature ejaculation (the condition since adolescence determined by physical reasons), there is a difference in dosage of dapoxetine. 60 mg tablets are substantially more effective than 30 mg tablets. However, for those with acquired PE (and this is the vast majority), the dosage doesn’t make any difference.
I want to tell about my personal experience using generic Priligy. Using this drug has helped me A LOT. Obviously, I ain't sharing any personal details, but it helped to increase my sexual stamina. I can last up to an hour now, maybe more. It gets tiresome after an hour anyway. The best thing about this particular store: USA delivery. For some reason, web-based pharmacies don't usually ship Priligy overseas. This one did. Thank you!
